At Last - What Happened To Lord Lucan

We all know the story. In 1974, Lord Lucan was estranged from his wife and in an attempt to murder her, murdered their children's nannie, Sandra Rivett, by mistake. He went on the run and has never been seen since.

Or so we had all been led to believe.

It can now be revealed that what had actually happened was that "Lucky" Lucan, as he was known to his friends, had secretly been attempting to make it to the big time in a rock and roll band. He and three friends had formed the band Queen in 1971 and had enjoyed some success but on the run up to the release of their third album, Sheer Heart Attack in November 1974 it was becoming clear that his aristocratic background would not sit well with the fans. Lady Lucan had threatened to expose his double life to the press. It was this threat that prompted the murder attempt.

Up until then nobody had made the connection between Lucky Lucan and the lead singer of Queen, so he simply took up his rock persona full time while the whole world though he had done a runner.

The rest is history. Queen went on to become one of the greatest rock bands ever and Lord Lucan, with his stage name of Freddie Mercury, became one of the great rock and roll legends.

He died in 1991.
